Proof of Parentage Dog DNA Test

What is the Proof of Parentage Test?

Our Proof of Parentage service offers accurate parentage testing for canines.

The test compares the DNA of a puppy to its potential dam and sire using DNA collected from the cheek cells of the dogs.

The collection process is simple, harmless and can be done at home.

Why should I do a Proof of Parentage Test?

For a breeder, marketing dogs as DNA Parentage Certified will show your customers that you have taken that extra step to provide the highest level of authenticity possible. When the DNA is analysed and compared, a result of Certified or Disqualified will be returned.

All DNA collected will be permanently stored electronically in our secure DNA World Pet Registry and physically in our bonded, climate controlled facility. This means that if you ever wanted to run a Proof of Parentage test again with any of the dogs that you have previously swabbed, you would not have to collect fresh DNA but use the samples already stored at no extra charge.

How much does the test cost?

The cost of the test is £25 per dog that you want analysing so therefore if you wanted to run a Proof of Parentage test with the dam, two potential sires and a puppy, the total cost would be £100.

Please note that this test is not a breed test. The Proof of Parentage test will not be able to tell you whether your dog is purebred or cross bred and what breed(s) are in the dog. If you require a breed identification test please

How it works

1. Using the DNA collection materials provided in the kit, collect the samples from your dogs. Be sure to read the instructions that come with the kit completely to ensure proper collection and return procedures. You will be provided with a DN number for each dog swabbed which should be stored in a safe place.

2. Return your dog’s sample(s) in the pre-paid envelope provided.

3. When the sample(s) arrive you will be notified by email, results then take approximately 28 days.
